Trigger point dry needling (TDN) uses a very fine acupuncture needle to release trigger points (tight taut muscle fibers) found in muscles. Injury or repetitive strain can result in perpetual contraction of musculature that can lead to localized pain, restricted range of motion, nerve compression, and muscle weakness.

TDN results in fast and effective relief that many patients feel after just one session.

The acupuncturists at Source Wellness have been trained in a specific style of acupuncture called Acupuncture Physical Medicine (APM) that focuses on trigger point dry needling in combination with traditional acupuncture. APM not only treats the localized condition using TDN to the affected muscles but also pain utilizing specific acupuncture points. Clinical studies show that acupuncture results in micro injury which increases blood flow that facilitates healing through the release of endorphins and neurotransmitters resulting in an analgesic effect.
